Fantasia and Fugue weaves together three traditional melodies found in the Original Sacred Harp (1844,) Antioch, Cussetta, and Wayfaring Stranger. In the tradition of Shape Note singing, Fantasia and Fugue begins with attention to clear melodic passages, progresses to a fugue, then returns to a restatement of the melodic material ending with a unison, prayer-like conclusion.
